Reading and more reading

I haven’t done much writing recently; I started a new job a month ago, and it’s been draining most of my energy. I did hope that the long commute would let me have time to think, or to listen to podcasts, but I’ve found that it’s so broken up I prefer to take a book or just watch the world go past.

Having said that, I have been enjoying the time to read. I must have started the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher at some point in the past, as the first book seemed familiar, but I never got far with the series. Thanks to a friend of mine, I’ve borrowed the first five and currently have the next five sitting on my desk waiting to go with me on my commute. I’ve found that I can read one per day, so I’m getting through them pretty fast…although I have also been leant a large stack of other things for when I finish Dresden, so I think I’ll be good for a while.

I’ve missed reading for the last few years – I’m waaaaay behind on a lot of things (I read The Lies of Locke Lamora as a proof copy; apparently there’s now an entire series of them…) and I know I’ve missed out on a lot of good fantasy. I should be writing, but this is a nice chance to breath, to relax, and to let my mind wander to other people’s worlds.

What else is ongoing…Madcap Library is still continuing, and I’m working on the websites and publishing this week. Beyond that, I’m waiting on feedback from Sammy, and..well, that’s all. Desert Sands is still sitting in my head, and the rest are still waiting to be finished. That’s it, really!
