Random updates from January 2017

cross-stitchI’m progressing slowly with my latest cross-stitch. The brief was “dinosaurs and comic books” and I had a lot of fun choosing the images! I need to sit down and watch some more David Attenborough documentaries, as that tends to be when I can do the layouts – and then it’s just a case of filling bits in. I’m definitely still enjoying it though. My friend Kat is doing a huuuuuge and complicated thing that would just drive me nuts! That said, it’s going to look amazing when it’s done.

I spent an hour this week submitting things to agents…two wonderful friends helped me with the query letter and my amazing beta-reader did a copyedit on the first three chapters for me, so I’m pretty happy that everything’s as polished as it can be! It’s actually quite exciting. Now I just have to wait and see if I get any answers :-/ And get back to writing, as I’ve already got people nagging for the rest of No Man’s Dawn

black cat asleepI’m now on Instagram and trying to do a photo a day, which I suspect will mostly be writing and the cat in cute poses. I’m not entirely sure what I’m doing on it, so we’ll see how it goes.

As for me…I’m getting there. I’m taking things one day at a time, and trying to keep myself busy. I’m still feeling very lost and at sea; I don’t know my place in the world. I’m not sure about my career, not sure about what I want to do…I’m fighting the voices that are almost constant at the moment, fighting the insecurities and the anxieties that are telling me I’d be much better off just giving up. tbr jan 2017But it is one step at a time. I’ve had some wonderful friends around me supporting me, so thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time and care to just check in on me and send me good thoughts. It’s meant a lot. So I am ok, and continuing to survive.

And finally, I haven’t been reading as much as I usually do (I can’t focus on the worlds very well, which is also why writing is hard) but I did pull out everything I’ve been meaning to read recently and dumped it in a pile. It hasn’t fallen onto the cat yet, although it’s getting there! I’m halfway through Ink & Bone at the moment, although I seriously need to do some review reading…sorry Dag! I will get to it!
