End-of-the-month update: June 2015

As you have probably noticed, the website’s changed! I got fed up with my previous scheme (oh, the perils of having some web design knowledge…I fiddle!) and so I changed the template. Please do let me know if anything’s breaking or awkward, and I will be tweaking for the next few weeks so expect a few more minor changes.

Totoro_2I’ve made some progress on my Totoro sampler – he’s now all grey. I’m going to do streaks of green behind him (you can see the grass just being started below) and fill in his stomach. It’s quite a nice easy thing to sew, so that’s just ongoing when I need something to do with my hands.

I’ve finished two submissions; one for Solarpunk and one for Magic, Metal & Steam. Both are set in the GreenSky world and both were quite a lot of fun to write, even though my search history is now filled with smoke grenades and how to make thermite. It’s for the story, honestly!

I’m working through (and adding to) my reading pile.

Writing_space_JuneI’ve also moved, although only by about 20 yards. For the last few months, I’ve been sitting with the boys in the ‘living room’ end of the pub. Although I like the company, I get very distracted by the TV and it’s hard to concentrate. I’m determined to do more writing and actually focus myself on it, particularly as I’ve now got two days a week free. So I’ve moved myself and my writing desk to the ‘snug’ end of the pub and so far, it’s working quite well – being sat at a desk means that I’m focusing more, and even if I am on Facebook then at least I feel more like working instead of aimlessly browsing. But I’ll see how it goes.

Music-wise, I haven’t really made any progress. I’ve missed three weeks of singing (two by being on holiday, one by Ian forgetting…) although I have been practising. I haven’t got to the piano and although we’ve now got the microphone recording without any crackles, I haven’t had the confidence to sit down and sing. However, I’ve got a couple more things on Jay’s list of “translate this into notes so I can play it please” to work on (primarily Celldweller’s End of an Empire and Lo-Pro Texas) and I’ve got a personal list of things to record so that I can get them out of my head.

I’ve added a Games page to the website. I’ve picked up quite a lot of RPG resources over the past year, and figured it would help me (and you) if I put them all in one place! I’ll be adding to the page as I get my bookmarks organised and remember other things that are useful.

And finally: there’s news coming! Some of you have spotted it already, but I’ll post about it on the 30th…
