Well, it feels like everything’s happened this week…
The cover for Green Sky & Sparks is completed; I’m just waiting on official confirmation before I can release it, but it looks absolutely AMAZING! The scheduled release date is Summer 2015 – eeeeeeh!
I also had a wonderful compliment at the beginning of the week; my sister asked for a copy of the first book, and she liked it! She’s a completely different personality to me, and doesn’t usually read fantasy (or often fiction) – and so for her to read it and enjoy it just kept me smiling for the whole day. And she asked questions and had comments and wants to read the next one…I am so pleased and so proud. It’s one of the best reactions I could want for my writing.
We started Dresden sessions again, which was great; it’s nice to be moving again with it after a month off…although it will stop over Christmas. Oh well.
I have a new job: I am officially going to be a Librarian! Or at least it’s my first official job at that rank, which is wonderful – I am technically a professional *bites nails*
I got a folder for my piano sheet music, which sounds silly but means I can actually put it on the music stand without it falling off, and can therefore learn it. I’ve learned the first two lines of Desperado – my goal for this week is to learn at least the first verse. I’m loving being able to sing and play something, particularly something as unregulated as Desperado is – it’s great fun.
In other music news, I think I’m officially in a band. It’s pretty scary! Jay agreed to use his old band name, and so I’m starting to work on the admin for marketing that. I’ve also found a stack of inspiration for lyrics, so I’m hoping to be able to do some writing. I’m a bit uncertain as to how good I’m going to be, but hey, everything’s worth trying once…we’re kicking things off in January once the Christmas chaos is over, but I figure I may as well use my free time and the fact my brain seems to be in music mode at the moment.
And a friend who I love dearly made a big decision; I’m so glad that he’s made it, even though it’s going to be so hard. Just gotta support him as best I can – but it feels like light at the end of the tunnel, which is so good.
In house news, a chunk of chimney fell down, we’ve spent a stupid amount of money on electricity for heating (but hey, no gas bill!) and the Lizard does not approve of the cold weather so she’s extra grumpy. It’s all fun…
Christmas is coming, and I need to dig out my carols…I have a piano to play them on now, and I may be very excited about this!
